Our story

AZNUK officially launched on January 31st, 2015, following an inspirational moment during the May 2014 International Nurses' Day celebrations at the Zambian High Commission in London.

At that event, nurses of Zambian origin envisioned creating a professional platform to support fellow nurses working in the United Kingdom. This platform aims to offer professional guidance, facilitate career development, and foster collaboration with other nursing associations and professional bodies.

Beginning with a modest membership of fewer than 10 members, AZNUK has experienced remarkable growth in membership since its inception. Today, we are proud to have a thriving community of nurses across the UK.

AZNUK collaborates closely with esteemed organizations such as the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) in the UK and the General Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia.

Our primary goal is to establish a robust support system for Zambian nurses residing in the UK, whether they are already settled here or considering working in the country.

AZNUK Progress to date

  • AZNUK has and is steadily still growing its membership base.

  • The association has been supporting  its members with  professional development through the provision of master classes conducted by specialists in various nursing fields.

  • The association has been active in identifying, offering guidance and initial financial support to new nurses arriving from Zambia.

  • The Association has to dated fostered healthy working relationships with organisations such as Royal College of Nursing and the Florence Nightingale Foundation and hope to increase such collaborations with many other organisations in the healthcare space
